What is Cordon
Cordon is a small, authentic village-station perched on the Mont-Blanc balcony, above Sallanches, in the Mont-Blanc country. Renowned for its head-on view of the Mont-Blanc range, facing due south, the village overlooks the Arve valley.
Cordon has a small, unconnected alpine ski area, between 1 000 and 1 600 m in altitude, with 11 km of pistes — green, blue, red and black — fully equipped with drag lifts, including an area dedicated to beginners (the « télé corde des lutins »). The area is attached to the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area and presented on Cordon's official website as part of the Évasion Mont-Blanc, while keeping a lift pass specific to the Cordon station only.
Cordon has no cross-country ski area of its own: the official website directs cross-country skiing enthusiasts to the neighbouring areas of Combloux, Megève Côte 2000, Passy Plaine Joux and Les Contamines-Montjoie. The station has its own French ski school (ESF de Cordon) and three mountain restaurants.
Off the slopes, the village is also known for its Baroque heritage (Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church) and serves as a starting point for the valley's major sites: the cascade de l'Arpenaz and the château des Rubins in Sallanches, or the Biotope water feature in Combloux.

Nearest SNCF station: Sallanches (about 15 min from Cordon). From Sallanches, bus line Y86 (Sallanches ↔ Cordon), then a free shuttle to the Dandry car park (foot of the slopes). Free loop shuttle through the village (village centre and the hamlet of La Léchère to the Dandry car park), open to pedestrians and dogs on a lead, only while the ski lifts are open during the winter season.
