The Alpine Coaster des Planards is the only permanent rail toboggan in the Chamonix valley. Installed in 2011 to replace the old summer toboggan, this 1,300-meter track winds through the forest and delivers jumps, banked turns and two spectacular 540° spirals, all in the heart of the mountains.
It's a closed-circuit system: you board at the bottom of the site (where operation is explained), then you're towed up to the start of the descent — no effort required. Each sled holds up to two adults (seat belts for each passenger) and runs in almost all weather thanks to partial track covering. You control your speed with a simple braking lever, allowing for a gentle family ride or a thrilling race with friends.
Les Planards is much more than just a toboggan: beginner ski area in winter (4 green, blue and red slopes, ski lifts), amusement park in summer (trampolines, water slides, rides, splash boat, loop-the-loops, mini-karts, mechanical diggers) and a year-round restaurant with panoramic terrace facing Mont Blanc. It's the largest multi-leisure complex in the Mont Blanc region, perfect for a half-day or full-day family outing.
