What is Les Granges de Heidi

Les Granges de Heidi is a Nordic-dog kennel based on the Plaine-Joux plateau, a high-altitude sector of Passy (Pays du Mont-Blanc), at the foot of the Mont Blanc range and the Passy nature reserve. The operator — a professional musher — trains and runs a team of Siberian huskies and Alaskans on the snowy trails of the plateau and surrounding forest, in an outstanding setting facing the massif.

The offering varies with season and age. In winter, when snow is sufficient, the musher offers sled rides (passenger seated on the sled, pulled by the team), mushing initiation (participants take the helm behind the musher) and baby-cani for very young children. Off-season, cani-hiking (a walk towed by a dog on a harness lead) and wheeled-kart rides take over on the plateau's forest paths.

Contact with the team is central: before setting off, the musher introduces the dogs, explains the harnessing, the commands and the role of the lead dog. The activity is by booking only and depends closely on snow cover and weather. Visitors' dogs are not allowed, to keep the kennel safe. Access from Passy via the Plagnes / Plaine-Joux road; parking at the Plaine-Joux station.

When to visit

The main season runs December to March, when snow cover on Plaine-Joux allows sledding under the best conditions. Peak season (Christmas and February holidays) is in very high demand — book very early. Outside the snow season (April to November), cani-hiking and wheeled formats take over on the plateau's forest paths. Weather and snow may force a reschedule: keep some flexibility in your trip.
Events : The musher occasionally offers discovery evenings, moonlit rides in peak season and birthday packages for children. Watching local sled-dog races (Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc, in the area) is sometimes proposed. Programme and dates posted on the official website and the kennel's social media.

How do I book a session at Les Granges de Heidi?

What are the prices?
