What is Les Carroz

Les Carroz is a family-friendly, sunny village resort in the commune of Arâches-la-Frasse, at an altitude of 1 140 m. Presented by its tourist office as one of the five resorts of the Grand Massif and its main gateway, it organises its alpine skiing around two starting points: Les Carroz 1200 (the Kédeuze gondola, in the centre of the village) and Les Carroz 1500 (the Molliets and Tête des Saix chairlifts).

The linked Grand Massif ski area — which brings together Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval — offers a total of 139 runs over 265 km, served by 62 lifts: these figures refer to the ski area as a whole, not to Les Carroz alone.

In Les Carroz itself, there is a snowpark (Oasis Cool Zone, freestyle and boardercross features) and a freeride sector at Corbalanche, with an avalanche transceiver checkpoint. Free beginner slopes are available in the centre of the village, and a torchlight descent takes place on the Timalets red run. For cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, the Col de Pierre Carrée (1 800 m) and Agy sectors are accessible nearby.

Beyond skiing, the resort stays active all year round: in winter, dog sledding with Évasion Nordique takes place on the snowy trails around the village. In summer, from June to September, Les Carroz becomes an active mountain destination — Grand Massif hiking and mountain-biking trails, a downhill bike park, a rail luge, paragliding and a swimming pool with a view of the peaks, with the Kédeuze gondola providing easy access to altitude.
