What is Parc Animalier La Grande Jeanne

La Grande Jeanne Wildlife Park is a small semi-freedom wildlife park in the Semnoz forest, above Annecy (74000). Managed by the city of Annecy and the French National Forest Office (ONF), the site features several enclosures in the wild where you can observe emblematic species of Haute-Savoie's local fauna: red deer and hinds, roe deer, wild boar, chamois, marmots (depending on season), ibex and other forest animals. The enclosures are large and wooded, allowing animals to move around in an environment close to their natural habitat.

Who is it for? The park is aimed at families with children, walkers and hikers, schools and holiday centres. It's an ideal visit to discover Alpine fauna in a few hours, in a natural and soothing setting. Educational panels explain the species, their way of life and their role in the ecosystem. The walk around the enclosures is easy (forest tracks) and suitable for all-terrain pushchairs or young children.

Open year-round, but the ideal period is from spring to autumn, when animals are most visible and the weather is fair. Access by car from central Annecy via the Semnoz road (parking nearby), or on foot/bike from the Vovray district. Picnic area on site. Combines well with a hike on the Semnoz and a panorama over Annecy lake.
