What is Yaute Canyon

Yaute Canyon is a guiding outfit specialising in canyoning around Annecy and in the Aravis range. The team leads descents in some of Haute-Savoie's most iconic canyons: Angon (east shore of Lake Annecy), Montmin, Grand Nant, Bionnassay and various Aravis canyons, depending on level and water conditions. Every trip starts with a full safety briefing covering equipment and descent techniques (jumps, natural slides, abseils).

Who is it for? Routes are calibrated for every audience. Families with children (from around 8-10 years depending on the canyon) discover a fun, low-commitment canyon with optional jumps. Sporty and adventurous visitors choose technical canyons with 20-40 m abseils, jumps up to 8 m, natural slides and whitewater swimming. Yaute Canyon also offers full-day formats, weekend packs and stag/hen or team-building outings. Wetsuit (5 mm), harness, helmet and neoprene socks are supplied — bring swimwear, a towel and river shoes or worn-out trainers.

Booking and good to know. Trips run May to September, outside thunderstorms (water safety). Booking is mandatory, online or by phone, with weather confirmation the day before. Prices range from around €55 for a discovery half-day to €80-85 for a sporty full day (2026 prices to confirm). The meeting point is given at booking depending on the canyon. Canyoning is a physical activity: swimming and good general fitness are required. Instruction is provided by state-qualified instructors (DEJEPS or BEES Canyon).
