What is Jardins de l'Europe
The Jardins de l'Europe are the green lung of Annecy city centre: a 1.8 ha park-arboretum laid out between the Vassé canal, quai Eustache-Chappuis and the northern shore of Lake Annecy. Right next to the Pâquier and the Pont des Amours, this English-style garden now counts close to 250 trees including remarkable species: ginkgo biloba, tulip tree, Corsican pines, giant sequoias, plus more than 1,000 shrubs.
The site is rich in history: a marshland island in the Middle Ages, the "Clos Lombard" was given to the Visitation order in 1644 by a Lombard banking family, became national property at the Revolution, then bought back by the town between 1835 and 1843. Free 24/7.
