Leisure parks

The wide-open spaces for a family day out — swimming, games, walks and picnics by the water.

A leisure park means a whole day in one place: a body of water, lawns, play areas and activities, often by a lake. Haute-Savoie has a handful, complemented by great nature estates open to walkers.

For developed waterfronts, the parks at the Ilettes (Sallanches), the Lac Bleu (Morillon), the Lac aux Dames (Samoëns) or the Beunaz offer supervised swimming in summer, games and large green spaces.

The estates — Rovorée-La Châtaignière at Yvoire, the Domaine de Guidou at Sciez, the Parc des Dronières at Cruseilles — are protected natural areas, free, perfect for a walk or a picnic.

Most are free to access; a few, such as the Beunaz or Orange-Montisel, charge in season. Each listing specifies the access and the commune.

Remember to check swimming supervision and opening times before you set off, as they vary widely by season.
