Rando-Rafting

Rando-Rafting is a long-established whitewater sports operator in the Giffre valley (Samoëns, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Morillon), part of the Grand Massif ski area in Haute-Savoie. The company has for many years supervised rafting descents, hot-dog (cano-raft), airboat and hydrospeed runs on the Alpine rivers of northern Haute-Savoie, mainly the Giffre but also the Fier and the Chéran depending on conditions and season.

Routes are calibrated by level and adapted to daily flow. The discovery descent (from age 10, about 1 hour, 5 km from the Perret zone to Samoëns village) crosses class II-III rapids in pristine forest setting. The full sport descent (from age 14, about 2 hours, 7 km from Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval to Samoëns) passes through the spectacular Gorges des Tines, a narrow limestone canyon where the river surges with class III-IV rapids at high flow. All outings are led by state-qualified instructors (BPJEPS Canoe-Kayak or equivalent), guarantors of safety and river reading.

The operator supplies full equipment: full neoprene wetsuit, high-flotation life jacket, helmet, paddle, water shoes depending on package. Participants must bring swimsuit, old trainers or closed-toe secure footwear, towel and full change of clothes. The season runs from April to late September, conditional on Giffre flow — spring (May-June) at high flow for thrill-seekers, summer (July-August) at medium flow for families and introduction, early autumn at calmer flow. Mandatory booking online or by phone, ideally 48 h ahead in peak season. No prior experience needed for introduction packages: being able to swim 25 metres in open water suffices.
