The Jardin botanique alpin La Jaÿsinia in Samoëns (74340) holds the French 'Jardin Remarquable' label and has been under the scientific direction of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) since 1936 — a rare distinction for a municipal botanical garden in France.

The garden displays more than 2,500 alpine species from mountains worldwide: the Alps (France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria), the Pyrenees, the Atlas, the Caucasus, the Himalayas, the Rockies and the Andes. All species are systematically labelled, making it both a stroll and a real outdoor science exhibition.

Free entry year-round when open. Season: 1 May–15 September (10 am–7 pm), then 16 September–31 October (10 am–5 pm). Closed 15 December–15 April and in case of snow, frost, high wind or thunderstorms. Partial wheelchair access — the garden is on a slope.
