What is Les Contamines-Montjoie
Les Contamines-Montjoie is an authentic village resort in the Mont-Blanc massif, in Haute-Savoie, at the gateway to the réserve naturelle des Contamines-Montjoie.
Its Alpine ski area, linked to Hauteluce within the Évasion Mont-Blanc group (with Saint-Gervais, Megève, Combloux and La Giettaz), stretches between 1 200 and 2 500 m in altitude. It offers 46 pistes (7 green, 10 blue, 18 red, 9 black), a fun park and a slalom stadium, over 120 km, served by 25 lifts — a total that corresponds to the whole Contamines-Hauteluce ski area, not just the village sector.
The resort also has a strong cross-country skiing tradition: the Nordic area offers 25 km of groomed and marked cross-country trails starting from Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge, right in the heart of the nature reserve. Winter is rounded out by a three-zone snowpark, an ice rink, snowshoe outings and ski touring.
Awarded the Famille Plus label, the resort focuses on nature-based off-piste activities: hiking and mountain biking between Le Signal and L'Étape, mountaineering, climbing, paragliding, and the Le Pontet leisure park with its water activities (pedal boats) throughout summer.
