What is Museum of Sacred Art

The Museum of Sacred Art is at Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, a high-altitude hamlet (≈1,170 m) of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in the Mont Blanc area. It occupies the 18th-c. former presbytery, next to the remarkable baroque Saint-Nicolas church (Historic Monument). Opened in December 2010, it highlights the baroque sacred-art treasure of the parish, one of the richest in the diocese of Annecy.

The full collection counts over 600 objects, mostly 17th-18th c.; about fifty are permanently shown: polychrome wood sculptures (saints, Virgins, angels), silverware (chalices, ciboria), and liturgical ornaments. Reduced price; opening hours vary with the season.
