What is Saint-Gervais-les-Bains

Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is a village resort at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, in the Arve valley, between Chamonix and Megève. A historic spa town, it is also the starting point of the Tramway du Mont-Blanc.

Its alpine ski area is linked to the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, which brings together Saint-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, Les Contamines, Megève, Combloux and La Giettaz. This ski area totals 230 pistes, 445 km of pistes and 110 ski lifts between 850 and 2 353 m in altitude — figures that cover the whole linked ski area, not the Saint-Gervais resort alone.

The sectors specific to Saint-Gervais are Le Bettex, accessible by gondola from the village, and Mont d'Arbois, which offers a beginners' area equipped with a covered moving carpet at 1 840 m. The Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce/Mont-Joly sector is renowned for its off-piste slopes, with a snowpark (the WOSP) accessible from the Mont-Joux chairlifts. For cross-country skiing, 28 km of trails are available on the Croix and Prarion plateaus, the latter accessible via the Tramway du Mont-Blanc.

Beyond skiing, Saint-Gervais remains a true spa town: the Thermes de Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc offer a wellness circuit around thousand-year-old thermal water, at the foot of the Bonnant gorges. The Tramway du Mont-Blanc leads up to the Nid d'Aigle at 2 412 m, the Maison forte de Hautetour and the parc aventure Mont-Blanc round out the family offering, while Mont Joly offers one of the finest viewpoints over the Mont-Blanc range.
