The Brévent offers the most direct view of the Mont Blanc massif from Chamonix. Two sections — Planpraz gondola then cable car — lift you to 2,525 m directly facing the glaciers.

The Brévent Cable Car serves the Brévent ski area at 2,525 m, south-facing and directly opposite the Mont Blanc massif above Chamonix. Access from the town centre uses two sections: a gondola to Planpraz (2,000 m) then the cable car to the Brévent summit. In summer (13 June – 20 September 2026, excluding partial closures), the site opens to hikers for sightseeing, with routes to Planpraz, the Grand Balcon Sud traverse and the Brévent–Flégère link.
South-facing and bordering the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, the Brévent is the valley's premier balcony viewpoint for Mont Blanc. The panorama spans the full northern face of the massif, from Mont Blanc to the Grandes Jorasses. In winter the ski area offers pistes for all levels, a freestyle area, and a gondola link to the Flégère sector. Paragliding take-off zones are available at Planpraz.
From Geneva (~1 h) or Annecy (~1h15): A40/A41, exit Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The Planpraz gondola base station is in the town centre, walkable from most accommodation. Paid Les Pélerins car park at the entrance to the town.
