Become a partnerAt Bredannaz, on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy, the old railway station has given way to a rest area on the Voie Verte — toilets, a water fountain, picnic tables, and a locomotive from 1911 displayed by the association Les Amis de Bredannaz.

The rest area of the former Bredannaz railway station is one of the most iconic stops on the Voie Verte du Lac d'Annecy, in the commune of Doussard, on the eastern shore of the lake. Here the Voie Verte follows the former railway line: the stop occupies the site of the old station, now turned into a pause point for cyclists, walkers and skaters making their way around the lake.
According to the SILA (Syndicat mixte du Lac d'Annecy), which manages the Voie Verte, the former Bredannaz station is "equipped with toilets, a water fountain, and a picnic area with tables and benches." It is the most fully equipped named service point on the route, a welcome stop at the halfway point of a circuit around the lake.
The stop also has a heritage dimension: in partnership with the association Les Amis de Bredannaz, visitors can see an exhibition of old railway equipment, including a locomotive dating from 1911, a nod to the era when the train served the eastern shore of Lake Annecy.
The area has free access and is particularly well suited to a family break: a water point, shaded tables, and a railway curiosity for children, just a short ride from the beaches and the Bout du Lac nature reserve.
