What is Au Fil du Rail Treasure Hunt at Servoz

The Au Fil du Rail treasure hunt at Servoz is a fully free family discovery trail, designed by the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley Tourist Office to introduce visitors to the village and its authentic mountain-town spirit. The hunt is part of a collection of four valley trails (Servoz, Vallorcine, Les Bois de Chamonix, Argentière) linked by the common theme of the Mont-Blanc Express railway, the emblematic line that serves all these villages from Saint-Gervais up to the Swiss border.

The route starts at Servoz SNCF station and invites young and old to decipher the village for about two hours, answering questions whose clues are hidden in the landscapes, buildings, heritage and signage of the town. Servoz, a former mining commune set at 815 m altitude at the foot of Mont Blanc, is the perfect playground: Maison de l'Alpage, Maison du Lieutenant, Diosaz Gorges, Vaudagne bridge, plus the flower meadows in summer. The pace is gentle, with no physical difficulty, ideal for children from around 6 onwards.

To take part, simply pick up the question booklet free of charge at any of the Tourist Offices in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley (Servoz, Chamonix, Argentière). The trail can be done at any time of year, although spring and summer offer the most pleasant conditions. Once back at the start, walkers can have their booklet checked and pick up a small souvenir.
