What is Mont-Saxonnex

Mont-Saxonnex is a small family ski resort perched above the vallée de l'Arve, at the foot of the massif du Bargy, with a panorama stretching from the Monts du Jura to the Mont-Blanc range.

The alpine ski area, run by the commune, has 6 drag lifts serving 6,5 km of pistes ranging from green to red, with a beginners' snow garden — a human-scale area designed for families and intermediate skiers.

With no classic Nordic area, the resort offers 9 km of ski touring routes and snowshoe trails, complemented by two free sledging runs — the Éterlou run and the Planets run — as well as dog-sledding outings and horse riding.

Above the village, lac Bénit is Mont-Saxonnex's off-piste gem, reached by a hike of about 7,8 km (3 h, beginner level); further on, the col de la Colombière, on the Reposoir side, extends the mountain outing for panorama and cycling enthusiasts.

How to get there

By car

From Paris or Lyon, take the A6 then the A40 (Genève-Chamonix direction), exit Bonneville (16 or 17) or Scionzier (18). Allow about 20 minutes from Bonneville via Thuet and the gorges du Bronze, or 15 minutes from Cluses via Scionzier-Marnaz (RD286).

The gare de Cluses, served by TGV, is about 10 km from Mont-Saxonnex. Genève airport (40 km) and Annecy-Meythet airport (45 km) complete the access. No dedicated ski shuttle is documented in official sources.
