What is Plage du Lac de Montriond

The Plage du Lac de Montriond sits on the shore of the Lac de Montriond at Montriond, in Haute-Savoie. The lake is the third largest body of water in the department (after Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy), covering around 30 hectares, set at 1,072 m altitude in the Vallée d'Aulps.

The lake is a natural mountain lake formed by an 18th-century landslide that dammed the Dranse de Morzine valley. Hemmed in between impressive limestone cliffs and a forest of conifers, it is famous for its emerald waters, earning it the nickname 'lac vert' (green lake), the result of calcium in suspension and a depth of up to 19 m.

Lifeguards on duty July-August 2026 (11am-6pm). 2026 summer prices: adult free, child free. Blue Flag 2026: no. Step-free access: partial (gravel paths).
