The Salève cable car is a high-capacity panoramic lift linking the French commune of Étrembières (Pas-de-l'Échelle, 432 m) to the summit of the Salève (1,097 m), known as the 'Balcony of Geneva', in just 5 minutes. The two 60-seat cabins make it one of the highest-capacity lines in the region.
Co-operated by RATP Dev, TPG (Transports Publics Genevois) and COMAG (Poma), the cable car is integrated into the Geneva public transport network: TPG line 8 reaches Veyrier-Douane (a short walk to the lift), with a direct shuttle to the base on summer Sundays. A reduced fare of EUR 12 return applies on presentation of an Oùra travel card, a SwissPass GA, a Swiss half-fare card or a Geneva City Pass.
At the top, the free Salève Secret exhibition (over 100 m2), a climbing wall, the panoramic Restaurant 360, waymarked hiking trails, paragliding launches and views over Geneva, Lake Geneva, the Jura and Mont Blanc complete the offer. 2026 prices: adult return EUR 18. Hours: 9 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Thursday to Saturday in summer; reduced opening the rest of the week.
From Geneva (10 km, ≈20 minutes) via the A40 or A411 motorway, Étrembières exit, follow signs for 'Téléphérique du Salève'. From Annemasse (≈10 minutes) via the D1206. From Annecy (≈45 minutes) via the A41. Free parking opposite the departure station.
