What is Luge d'été de La Sambuy

The Luge d'été de La Sambuy — "Luge sur rails JIM La Sambuy" — races down 600 metres of track on the mountainside, starting from Le Vargnoz (~1 150 m), above the hamlet of Seythenex. On the programme: 9 bends, 3 jumps and top speeds of 35 km/h, with a cart that has integrated braking and a compulsory seatbelt.

The attraction is run by SARL JIM (James and Ingrid Mermillod), who bring the La Sambuy site to life in summer with bike rental, alongside mountain restaurants and hiking trailheads towards the La Sambuy mountain.

The context has changed: in June 2023 the commune voted to halt the ski lifts of the former resort (dismantling now underway), but the coaster continues to operate independently — it is today the site's flagship summer attraction.

Ten minutes downhill, the grotte et cascade de Seythenex naturally rounds out the outing; Faverges and the southern shore of Lake Annecy are a quarter of an hour away.
