What is Philippe Piccot Cinema Museum

The Philippe Piccot Cinema Museum at Douvaine is one of the most singular museums in Haute-Savoie: it gathers in the centre of Douvaine the complete collection of film projectors designed, built and sold by Jean Buisse and Paul Bottazzi, two Lyon inventors nicknamed the "Rolls-Royces of cinema projection". Their machines, produced between 1946 and 2007, equipped the finest cinemas across France and Europe.

The museum is the life's work of Philippe Piccot, who ran the Cinéma du Chablais in Douvaine and saved and restored every Buisse-Bottazzi model: projection-cabin machines, lab equipment and accessories. Open every Tuesday in July-August, 2:30-5:30 pm; free guided tours.
