What is Lake of Le Môle Loop Walk

The Lake of Le Môle Loop walk is a very short and easy family loop around the lake of Le Môle at La Tour (74250), a small Faucigny village adjoining the neighbouring village of Saint-Jeoire. The trail is about 1.6 km long with only 21 metres of cumulative ascent and tops out at 613 m altitude — more a stroll than a real hike. The setting: a quiet body of water, meadows, shaded woodland and the silhouette of Le Môle (1,863 m), the emblematic peak of the Faucigny, rising above the valley.

The walk starts at the entrance to Saint-Jeoire village, at the foot of the Château de La Tour, along a small path (the Chaffards path) that runs slightly above the local road. You reach the lake of Le Môle, complete a full loop around it, then drop back down through the village of La Tour before rejoining the forest track that leads back to the starting oasis. On the wildlife side, many birds nest around the lake, making it a particularly rich spot for observation in spring.

The loop's main feature is that it is accessible by wheelchair and stroller: the path surface is even, the gradients are very gentle and the length suits all family configurations. It is also a pleasant choice during heatwaves, with shaded passages around the lake, or after the schools restart when the surrounding hikes empty out.
