The Écomusée Paysalp is the peasant heritage ecomuseum of the Faucigny, located at 628 avenue de Savoie in Viuz-en-Sallaz. Run by the Paysalp non-profit (founded in the 1980s), it was awarded the national ecomuseum label in 2003 and now welcomes around 40,000 visitors a year.
The main Peasant Museum offers 500 m² of immersive exhibition on mountain life from 1850 to 1950: reconstructed farmhouse interiors, agricultural tools, traditional costumes and old trades. Two highlights: a fully restored 1924 classroom and 'Le Kube', an aerial film projected inside a panoramic cube.
Paysalp manages a total of eight Faucigny heritage sites, including the Prieuré de Peillonnex, the Château de Faucigny and the Verger conservatoire de Sevraz (80 heritage apple and pear varieties). Fares: adult €7, children 5–15 €5, free under 5. Note: open Monday–Friday, closed weekends and public holidays.
From Annemasse (≈25 min) by YO! regional bus or car via D903 then D907 to Viuz-en-Sallaz. From Bonneville (≈15 min) via D9 then D907. Free parking on site at 628 avenue de Savoie.
