What is Maison de la Mémoire Paysalp

The Maison de la Mémoire Paysalp is a separate site from the main Paysalp Peasant Museum, located at the Bâtiment des 4 rivières, 800 avenue de Savoie in Viuz-en-Sallaz. It is the alpine heritage media library and conservation centre run by the Paysalp non-profit, aimed at researchers, genealogists, ethnologists and lovers of Savoyard culture.

Its documentary collection is exceptional: the 'Mémoire Alpine' database (memoire-alpine.com) gathers photographic, audiovisual and textual archives on Savoyard culture, agropastoralism and alpine ethnology. The Watt & Bike installation lets visitors pedal to listen to oral testimonies from farmers, craftsmen and elders. Bespoke heritage programmes can be booked through Paysalp.

Free entry for media-library use. Paid bespoke activities. Public consultation hours: Monday–Friday 9 am–12.30 pm and 1.30 pm–5 pm, Wednesday afternoon 1.30 pm–5 pm, and the first Saturday of the month 9.30 am–5 pm. Access via the rear of the MJC. A natural complement to the main Paysalp Peasant Museum 200 m away at 628 avenue de Savoie.
