What is Abondance Cheese House

The Abondance Cheese House is the official interpretation museum of the AOP Abondance cheese, in the heart of the Abondance village in the Haut-Chablais. Run by the Abondance Patrimoine association, it offers a sensory scenographic route covering the full cheese cycle: from summer alpine pastures to ripening cellars, via milking, rennet, pressing and wheel ageing.

The visit highlights the patient gestures of breeders, cheesemakers and master ripeners of the Abondance Valley through images, sounds, hands-on stations and reconstructions. Visitors discover the local Abondance cow (brown-ringed eyes), her rich milk and the cheese's signature. Tasting included. Adult €5.50; DUO ticket with Abbey €9.
