Maison de la Pomme et du Biscantin

The Maison de la Pomme et du Biscantin occupies a chalet in Serraval, beside the road over the col du Marais, between Thônes and the val Sulens. Since 1998, the Association des Vergers de la vallée de Thônes has been telling the story of the district's farm orchards here: the mountain apple varieties, pollination and bees, pruning and grafting.

Photo exhibitions, old tools, demonstration videos and a theatre of puppets acting out the apple tree's four seasons punctuate the visit — and children get free workshops on summer Fridays (12 July to 30 August, 14:30–17:30).

The star of the show remains the Biscantin, the traditional cider of the vallée de Thônes: association members bring their apples to the press, and the shop sells apple juice, Biscantin, vinegar, apple compote, honey and seasonal apples, all locally sourced.

Allow about an hour for the visit (adults 4 €, children 3 €, free under 4 — 2026 prices), and pair it with the nearby écomusée du Bois et de la Forêt in Thônes for a heritage day out in the Thônes valleys.
