What is Morzine

Morzine is an authentic village resort of the Chablais, in Haute-Savoie, part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the largest French-Swiss ski areas in Europe. The village spreads out around 1 000 m in altitude, with a ski sector rising to 2 019 m (Pas de l'Aigle).

The linked Morzine-Les Gets sector offers around 120 km of pistes marked for all levels, served in particular by the Pléney, Nyon and Super Morzine chairlifts and gondolas, with a snowpark-style fun zone (Eagle Park) on the Nyon / Pas de l'Aigle side. The Pléney and Nyon sectors are geared more towards learning (green and blue runs), while the Chamossière sector offers more challenging runs.

Morzine is also a fully-fledged Nordic skiing destination: the Morzine-Avoriaz Nordic area, spread across the Vallée de la Manche, Pléney-Chavannes and Super Morzine-Avoriaz sectors, totals more than 60 km of cross-country trails between 1 100 and 1 800 m, plus a walking and snowshoeing route with no ski lift in the Vallée de la Manche.

Beyond skiing, the village keeps a genuine Chablais way of life and a rich off-slope offering in both summer and winter: an aquatic centre, an ice rink, nearby waterfalls and swimming at Lake Montriond extend the stay, while in summer Morzine becomes a major mountain biking destination of the Portes du Soleil Bike Park.

By car

Morzine is reached via the Vallée d'Aulps, at the heart of the Chablais. The nearest train stations are Cluses (30 km, daily TGV service) and Thonon-les-Bains (33 km, weekend TGV). In winter, special equipment is recommended depending on conditions.

Locally, free local shuttles link Morzine to Avoriaz, notably from the Prodains Express departure station, making it easy to get around the sector without a car.
